WHEN & WHY DID YOU START:

I started practicing in July 2013. A friend took me to a heated power vinyasa class on a whim, and I was hooked! I was in a dark place emotionally and mentally then, and yoga gave me a chance to catch my breath and declutter my mind.  It couldn’t have come into my life at a better time.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE:

I love playing with the balance of effort and ease in my practice and seeing what new variations and transitions I can challenge myself with. I also love the energy it provides – not only to my physical body and mental/emotional state, but also the energy I can give to others through my practice, just through intention.

ARE YOU CURRENTLY FACING ANY CHALLENGES WITHIN YOUR PRACTICE?

Generally, I’m working on strengthening and lengthening in poses and arm balances. Specifically, I’m focused on increasing strength and flexibility in my lower and mid-back – that’s probably the one place that isn’t as open in my body. I’m always working on being present and focusing on the now (both on and off my mat).

FAVORITE POSE:

I’m really enjoying supported headstand. It’s fun working on leg variations and challenging my core! I also enjoy half moon and dancer.
